Patriot Day Give Back

On September 11, 2026, Mt. Carmel will host our Annual Patriot Day Give Back! What is Patriot Day and how can you be involved?
Each year in September, our Nation comes together and salutes Patriot Day and the National Day of Service and Remembrance, to honor every life that was taken on 9/11. We remember the bravery shown that fateful day, just as we remember how we came together, united in grief and in purpose. We use Patriot Day to renew our solemn vow to never forget what happened, or those who lost their lives. We honor military members (past and present), first responders, emergency workers and the brave civilians who answered the call of duty and rushed into action to save lives that day. Their courage embodies the American spirit and resilience, and their heroism continues to inspire new generations of Americans.
On Patriot Day, Mt. Carmel and many of its partners sponsor a collaborative outreach effort to support military, veterans, and families as well as the entire front range community. Through a special partnership with Care and Share Food Bank of Colorado, they will provide more than 400 families in the Pikes Peak region with essential food provisions while also spotlighting Mt. Carmel and other area support agencies’ services and programs.
The day will begin at Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center with the opening ceremony at 8:00AM where local dignitaries, community partners and supporters, military representatives, and media will be on hand to kick off Patriot Day and to pay tribute to our military. Following the opening ceremony, a community food distribution will commence at 9AM across the street in the Norris Penrose Event Center upper parking lot, just off Moreno Ave, and run until 2:00PM.
This year’s event will be extra special as we not only celebrate Mt. Carmel’s 10th anniversary, we will also celebrate our Nation’s 250th anniversary, Colorado’s 150th anniversary, and 9/11’s 25th anniversary. Please mark your calendars for this special day. In August we’ll send out registration directions to receive food items. Also formal invitations to the opening ceremony with RSVP information will go out in August.
