    Volunteer Areas of Interest*

    • All volunteer applicants are required to undergo a background check, paid by the volunteer, in accordance with the rights outlined in the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
    • We cannot accept individuals who are required to do court-ordered community service hours.
    • Volunteers will complete the necessary trainings and departmental orientation as determined by their specific assignment.
    • One letter of reference is required. References should be individuals, not related to you, that are knowledgeable about your skills, experience, and personal qualities that qualify you for volunteering at the Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. References can be submitted by using the “Volunteer *Recommendation Form” below, or reference/reference letter can be emailed directly to
    • A personal interview will be scheduled to review your application and discuss your interests, skills, and placement. The Volunteer Services Department reserves the right to decline any application without explanation.
    • Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to serve.
    • In order to remain “active” as a volunteer at Mt. Carmel, the volunteer must participate in at least one event a year or a minimum of 4 hours of service within a year span.
    • Your social security number will be requested as a requirement to obtain a background check.
    • Volunteers are required to be capable of completing all trainings and to work independently.
    • Applicants are advised that there is no coverage under the Workers Compensation Insurance Policy of Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center, because applicant/volunteer is not employed by Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center.
